The energy deficit in Ukraine after this week’s bombardment is at 19%, Denys Shmyhal, Ukrainian Prime Minister reported today.

Shmyhal added that staff are continuing to restore fallen power lines and destroyed facilities in the wake of the strikes.

He said: “Despite hitting some energy infrastructure facilities, energy experts promise to eliminate the consequences of yesterday’s shelling in the coming days.

“At the same time, the capacity deficit in the power system will persist. Now it is 19% of the projected consumption.”

Mr Shmyhal added that 35% of key facilities have been damaged by “massive Russian attacks” that have plagued Ukraine since October.

He said: “70% of them were fired upon two or more times.

“For example, yesterday, the enemy fired seven rockets at one of the substations in Odesa region at once.”

The Ukrainian PM said, therefore, “blackouts will continue to operate”.
