Sadiq Tyomanger, a unionist, has called on the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to require motorcyclists across the country to wear side mirrors and helmets.
Tyomanger, the National Protocol Officer of the Nigerian Association of Passengers’ Rights and Welfare, made the plea in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Abuja.
“It has become an eyesore for a great country like Nigeria to have motorcyclists refuse arbitrarily, the normal use of side mirrors and helmets.
“They have been endangering the lives of our teeming passengers on motorcycles across the nation.
“It is very sad for a person to purchase a motorcycle with two side mirrors, only to remove them.
“The FRSC should begin immediate arrest and prosecution of such offenders,” he said.
Tyomanger said that the enforcement will save lives and ensure sanity on the roads.
