Chelsea star Victor Moses and the country’s top
stars based in China led by skipper Mikel Obi will
be available for selection for next month’s AFCON
qualifier against South Africa, officials have said.
“He (Victor Moses) will join us in Nigeria (for the
AFCON qualifier against South Africa),” disclosed
Super Eagles spokesman Toyin Ibitoye.
“He has had a very long season, played almost
every game for Chelsea this season, and so it will
not be fair for him to be in camp immediately after
the FA Cup final in England.
“He will need to refresh, recharge his batteries
before he comes to camp for South Africa.
“As for the players in China, the league there is
still on, but they will be available for the South
Africa game as it is within the FIFA window.”
The Eagles official expressed confidence the team
will get off to a winning start against South Africa
on June 10 in Uyo.
“We hope for a good start to the AFCON qualifier,”
Libya and Seychelles are the other teams in
Nigeria’s qualifying section for Cameroon 2019.
