Barcelona president Joan Laporta would “love” Lionel Messi to return to the Nou Camp.
The 35-year-old’s Paris Saint-Germain deal expires next summer, although both parties will have talks early in the new year about extending his contract and there is positivity he will sign an extension with the French champions.
Laporta said of a move for the newly-crowned World Cup winner: “Will he come back as a player? Right now he is a Paris Saint-Germain player, we would love to have him back at Barcelona one day, we will see.
“For us, he is the greatest player of all time, and he played with Barcelona and grew up at Barcelona.
“I am convinced that deep in his heart is is “culer” (Barcelona fan), and for us he is an example as a fan and somebody who gave us so much joy, so he will always be tied with Barcelona.”
