Newly appointed Bafana Bafana of South Africa head coach, Stuart Baxter hopes to start his reign on a positive note by securing a win against perenial rivals, Nigeria in their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixture next month, apnewsng.com can report.
The former African champions will face the Super Eagles at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo on June 10.
Baxter was recently appointed as the new handler of the side ahead of the game against the three-time African kings.
Baxter told the local media during his unveiling on Monday that his side go all out for a win against the West Africans.
“I hope we will be very competitive with Nigeria. We will give them a game,”he stated.
“I’m really looking forward to this latest challenge.
If I wasn’t ready, I would not have accepted the challenge.
I haven’t finalised my Technical Team but am
working on it.”
“I’m very optimistic. If we can pull together but
don’t be too negative because it will affect
everyone. I’m asking for buy in of every SA.”
“I believe the nation has enough players to succeed and I believe in my abilities,”
