More than 120 women have been presented with appointment letters by the Zamfara State Government as part of its women empowerment programme.

The Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Abdullahi Mohammed, said that the gesture was part of the state government’s efforts to provide an enabling environment for the womenfolk to earn an income.

Mohammed, while presenting the appointment letters, called on the beneficiaries to make good use of the opportunity to be more relevant in the society.

The state’s Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Alhaji Lawal Abubakar, who was at the venue of the letters presentation, commended the state government for the kind gesture.

Abubakar said this was the first batch of people to receive appointment under the programme, reiterating that the gesture was based on the women’s significant contributions toward the development of the state.

One of the beneficiaries, Hajiya Ai Malu who spoke on behalf of others, thanked Governor Abdulaziz Yari for the opportunity given them.

Malu promised their continued support to government policies on women and development.
