The National Council for Women Societies, NCWS, joins other Nigerians to condole the government and people of Akwa Ibom State over the tragic loss of lives that occurred as a result of the collapse of the Reigners Bible Church, Uyo, on Saturday, December 10, 2016.

In a statement, NCWS President, Chief (Mrs.) Gloria Laraba Shoda commiserated with the government and people of the state, the governor and his wife, Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel over the sad incident.

The statement said,  “The entire members of the National Council for Women Societies sincerely sympathize with the government and the people of Akwa Ibom State as well as the families of victims of Saturday’s tragic collapse of Reigners Bible church, Uyo.

“Our prayers are with you for the repose of the souls of the deceased

and the quick recovery of the injured; we pray that the Almighty God in His infinite mercy will grant all the families of those involved in

the tragic incident the strength to overcome their great losses and receive the souls of the departed in eternal bliss.”

Shoda also seized the moment to felicitate with the First family over the miraculous escape of the Governor who was present at the church when the structure went down.

“NCWS also congratulates you and your entire family on the divine escape of your beloved husband, His Excellency, Governor Udom Emmanuel from the collapse of the church building.”

The women body rejoices with the Governor and his entourage on their safe escape and call on relevant authorities to commence investigations with a bid to unravel the circumstances that led to the incident to forestall future re-occurrence.

“We commend the Akwa State Government for the prompt response in rescue operations and evacuation of those involved, especially as supervised by His Excellency and salute the state for the measure taken so far to forestall future recurrence and bring perpetrators of the failed structure to book,” the National President said.
