France center-back, Dayot Upamecano believes containing Jude Bellingham and winning the midfield battle could be the key if France are to overcome England and maintain their World Cup defence.
Upamecano has witnessed Bellingham’s talent first-hand while taking on his Borussia Dortmund team in the Bundesliga but doesn’t consider him a threat in Saturday’s World Cup quarter-final.
“I wouldn’t say he’s a threat, but they have a very strong team,” Upamecano said.
“I know him well – Bayern vs Dortmund is war. He’s gaining experience and is trusted in every game.
“It will be a very big battle in midfield, we’ll count on our senior players [Antoine] Griezmann and [Adrien] Rabiot.”
