UNFPA To Engages 1000 Youths for HIV/AIDS Campaign

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has said that it would engage over 1000 youth volunteers for the forthcoming campaign against HIV/AIDS in Calabar.

Media Associate, UNFPA, Kori Habib, who gave the hint on Sunday said the campaign which is part of Calabar carnival, slated for December 1st 2016 is tagged: “Wise up Cross River”.

According to him, the campaign is to create awareness about some unhealthy lifestyle of youths, which could lead to contacting the disease.

She noted that the agency aimed at using the youth to reach out to others as they are most vulnerable group.

Habib explained that the Youth volunteers picked from 18 local government areas of the state are currently undergoing training.

She stated that UNFPA is looking forward to a behavioral change, expressing optimism that over 100,000 people in Cross River would benefit directly and indirectly at the end of the programme.

According to Habib, there is going to be free distribution of condoms, HIV test, counseling and lots more.
