SLOT Systems Limited has officially launched the Slot Foundation with an Academy as part of its corporate social responsibility programme.
The event which saw over 40 students graduating from the Lagos state Vocational educational board 2016 Edition of The Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) was held at the Protea Hotel, Lagos.
Speaking at the inauguration, The Chairman, Slot Foundation and the Managing Director of Slot, Mr. Nnamdi Ezeigbo said the aim of the academy w as to provide technical skills and creating jobs for Nigerians.
According to him, assessing the outgrowing need for skills and empowerment informed the setting up a proper technical school where Nigerians will be provided with quality technical skills that will further enrich their lives.
He said the Academy which is the brain child of SLOT FOUNDATION would address gaps in skills and empowerment in Nigeria with six intensive technical training.
Nnamdi stated that SLOT Academy, whose slogan is “Touching Lives, Raising People” hopes to train young people and imbibe in them the ‘SLOT strategy’ that will empower them to become great social entrepreneurs.
Explaining the ‘SLOT strategy’ further, Nnamdi noted that S stands for Solutions, L for Learning and Leadership, O for Opportunities and T for Technology.
He noted that the foundation will help promote locally made Nigeria products that would create jobs and promote local content and implored SLOT partners, OEMs and technology enthusiast to help SLOT in its efforts to add more value.
Also, the Director of Information Technology and Mobile, Samsung Mr Emmanouil Revmatas encouraged the students to make efficient use of knowledge and skill imparted into them.
