The much awaited information and communications technology (ICT) summit billed to hold in the city of Enugu, Nigeria has been fixed for the 6th and 7th December, 2016.
Tagged “Innovate, Transform, Connect”, the two day summit, according to its organisers will be chaired by Ernest Ndukwe, former executive chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission(NCC).
Speakers at the event will include Barrister Adebayo Shittu, minister of Communications, Prof Umar Danbatta, executive chairman,Nigeria Communications Commission, and Chief Leo Stan Ekeh, Zinox Group chairman.
Others include Dr Ali Ibrahim Pantami, Director General, National Information Technology Development Agency(NTDA), Mr Chinenye Mba-Uzoukwu, Managing Director of Infographics; and Mr Yusuf Kazaure, MD, Galaxy Backbone Ltd.
Other speakers already line up include Chioma Agwuegbo, founder of TechHerNG, Mr Yele Okeremi, CEO, Precise Financial Systems, Mr Mohammed Ibrahim, founder of Emerge Tech; Mr Kola Aina, Ventures Platform; Mr Charles Emembolu, CEO, Crestsage and many others.
According to Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata CFA, host, Tech Trends on Channels TV and ICT columnist in Punch newspapers, the two-day event is ‘designed to deepen the conversations in the ICT sector and develop a new set of entrepreneurs who would strategically apply new technologies to growing the Nigerian economy’.
Agbata is one of the conveners of the summit.
Ken Nwogbo, rditor in Chief, Nigeria Communications Week, another of the conveners who spoke with newsmen on the coming summit, revealed that the summit will create sessions, to address issues, generate new ideas and approaches as well as chart a road map for Nigeria’s ICT space.
Nwogbo, said that the event will provide unique platforms for over 1,000 leading ICT professionals and managers to mobilise smart implementation strategies aimed at improving operations at the citizenry and enterprise levels.
The choice of Enugu is strategic and stems from the fact that the city plays hosts to one of the nation’s ivy league institutions- the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and Enugu campuses and the world famous Institute of Management and Technology (IMT).
“Along with a number of other higher institutions in the state, the city underlines the importance of academia and resources around there to technology development as has been proved by the Silicon Valley model.
“Ultimately, the Technology Development summit will deepen conservation and offer practical insights for our national technology development”.
The duo added that the event will also be keen on giving young innovators platforms aimed at promoting innovation and entrepreneurship.
Venue for the summit will be at De Dome Event Center, New Haven Enugu and is expected to attract players in the new technology industry especially the Internet.
Students around the South East region of the country are also supposed to be among the greatest beneficiaries from the summit.
