The Police Service Commission (PSC) has pledged to ensure better welfare for its members of staff and personnel of the Nigeria Police Force.

Mr Ikechukwu Ani, the Head of Press and Public Relations of PSC said this in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja.

Ani said the acting Chairman of PSC, Justice Clara Ogunbiyi made the pledge at a leadership and service award ceremony to honour past chairmen of the commission.

She said the former Chairmen of the Commission who received the leadership award were Chief Simon Okeke, Mr Parry Osayande, Chief Mike Okiro and Alhaji Musiliu Smith.

Ogunbiyi said the event was a stock taking ceremony on the journey so far, as commission concludes plans to move to its corporate headquarters.

She said the movement was a milestone in the life of the commission, empowered to appoint promote, dismiss and exercise disciplinary control over persons in the Nigeria Police Force.

According to her, the commission is presently occupying scattered offices at the Federal Secretariat complex Phase 1 and phase 3 in Abuja.

She said the new corporate headquarters would provide an environment conducive for personnel of the commission to perform optimally in the discharge of their duties.

The PSC acting chairman commended the Federal Government for its support and encouragement in the construction of the corporate headquarters of the commission.
