MURIC Demands Full Investigation into Bombing of 120 Kaduna Villagers



The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has tasked the Federal Government to investigate the bombing of 120 villagers in Tudun-Biri, Igabi Local Government of Kaduna State by the Nigerian Army.

Prof. Ishaq Akintola, the Executive Director, MURIC, said this in a statement in Abuja on Wednesday.

“Army drones killed 120 innocent villagers at Tudun-Biri, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Sunday, Dec. 3. The victims were celebrating the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) when the ugly incident occurred.

“Although the Nigerian Army has accepted responsibility for the attack. We strongly condemn the killing of unarmed and innocent villagers.The incident reflects carelessness and lack of professionalism.

Katsina Gov. Approves N200m Counterpart Fund to Tackle Malnutrition


Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda has approved the release of a N200 million counterpart fund for the prevention and treatment of women and children afflicted with malnutrition.

Malam Ibrahim Kaula, the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the governor disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen in Katsina on Tuesday.

According to Kaula, the state’s Commissioner of Health, Dr Bishir Gambo who revealed this, said it was part of their counterpart fund for UNICEF intervention programmes.

He explained that the fund was for the procurement of nutrition commodities for the prevention and treatment of malnutrition among children and pregnant women.

According to the Commissioner, the approval of the fund was aimed at reducing maternal, infant and child illnesses and deaths.

The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) Zone G, Benin, has begun the production of bread in commercial quantity for both its inmates and members of the public.

In a speech at the official handover of the bakery to the concessionaire, the First Global Hakitekt Bread Bakery Limited, for effective management, the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, described the project as laudable.

Tunji-Ojo, represented by the Director of Special Duties in the Ministry, Mrs Comfort Kabirwa, commended the different Controllers in the zone, comprising Edo, Delta, Anambra, Enugu and Ebonyi, for their buy-in into the project.

He underscored the importance of Public Private Partnerships (PPP), saying that the recent decongestion of Correctional Centres in rhe country was not government funded but facilitated through corporate social responsibility.

Reps Express Concern Over “Sophisticated” Surge in Financial Crimes
The House of Representatives Committee on Financial Crimes has expressed worry over the surge in sophisticated financial crimes and the need to quickly arrest the development.

Rep. Ginger Obinna, Chairman of the committee , said this at the hearing of the defense of 2024 appropriation bill by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja on Tuesday.
