GSI Automated Loan Recovery Will Henceforth Remain In Place Until Loan is Fully Repaid — CBN


The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has said Global Standing Instruction (GSI) automated loan recovery feature applicable to all loans in the industry will henceforth remain perpetually in place throughout the life of the loan and until the loan is fully repaid.

CBN in a recent circular titled ‘Re: Global Standing Instruction (GSI), Individuals’, said the rate of recovery attempts through the GSI platform will continue unrestricted.

The GSI guidelines was issued in July 2020 pursuant to Section 2 (d) of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007.

The circular said:“Consequently, please be informed that the frequency of recovery attempts via the GSI platform has been amended from a specific number to continuous and unrestricted.”

Former Super Eagles midfielder, Friday Ekpo, says adding fresh home based and foreign professionals to key departments of the team is crucial.

Ekpo said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Lagos, against the backdrop of Super Eagles unimpressive performance in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.

Katsina: Police Operatives Neutralise 3 Suspected Banditry Kingpins

Operatives Katsina State Police Command have successfully Neutralised three suspected notorious bandits kingpins.

This is contained in a statement issued by the command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO) ASP Abubakar Aliyu, on Tuesday in Katsina.

He said the incident occurred on Nov. 25, at about 10:30 a.m., while on a joint patrol with members of the vigilante, in Kwarare area of Jibia Local Government Area.

“Some suspected bandits opened fire on the patrol team, in which the officers valiantly returned fire, forcing the terrorists to abandon their evil plan and fled into the nearby bush.

“While combing the scene and surrounding bushes, corpses of three neutralised suspected terrorists and a motorcycle which belonged to the bandits were recovered,” he said

The PPRO added that the corpses were later identified as those of Bala Wuta, a suspected notorious bandits’ leader terrorising Jibia

EFCC Warns Nigerians Against ATM Swap Fraudsters
An alert has been raised by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) about activities of ATM swap fraudsters.
The EFCC Head of Media and Publicity, Mr Dele Oyewale, gave the advice in a statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday in Ibadan.

Oyewale said investigations by the Commission have linked unauthorised withdrawals from customers bank accounts to Automated Teller Machine (ATM) day Debit Card swapping or fraud.

He said that the modus operandi of the fraudsters involved keeping a debit card of the same bank, and swapping the card in the guise of helping a confused bank customer at any ATM point.

“They swap the card in such a hurry that the customer would not notice and at the same time memorise the pin used in trying the fake cards.
