Ondo State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Rotimi Akeredolu, has described the result of the gubernatorial poll released by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as decision of the electorate.
This came barely minutes after INEC released 17 of 18 Local Government election results that clearly placed the APC candidate in favourable lead in the poll.
According to 17 Local Governments results released by INEC, the APC candidate has won 13 councils while Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Eyitayo Jegede and Alliance for Democracy (AD) Olusola Oke won two councils respectively.
Akeredolu, while reacting over the result already released by INEC on his official twitter handle on Sunday, said the election clearly indicated the beauty of the democratic system of government.
“Ondo has decided and I am humbled that my people chose me. Our time to Think Anew and Act Anew has come. This level of oversight is welcomed and encouraged. It is the beauty of democracy. Thank You Ondo State.”
It would be recalled that no fewer than 1,280,580 voters with Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) would decide who the governor would be out of the 28 contestants in Saturday’s governorship election.
Although 1,659,186 voters were registered for the election, 378,606 did not turn up to collect their PVCs.
