The membersĀ  of Lagos state Health Volunteers Scheme have appealed to the state ministry of health to fulfilled its promise of employing them as permanent staff after volunteering themselves for two years.

At the Lagos state House of Assembly, Ikeja, the protesters led by Oshogbesan Abiola explained that the agreement between the state government and the volunteers was to make them permanent staff after two years, but they breached the contract.

“We are under the Lagos state ministry of health, we have spent four and the half year going to five years, when we joined, they promised that after the second year, they are going to renew our contract, the third and four year, they renew but we realised that they want to lay us off.

He, therefore, appealed to the state government not to send them packing after the year they spent.

“We all are graduate from different school, some are Master Degree holders, so how will it look like after spending like four and the half year and they just sent us off.

Reacting to their request, the Speaker of Lagos state House of Assembly (LAHA) said the house has received their petition and have engage those involved to look inward at their petition,

“From all you have said, you are appealing, it is not that you were employed and disengage, so we will look at it and see what we can do, he said.
