
The Lagos State Government has again assured victims of land grabbers popularly called ‘Omo-Onile,’ of free legal service.

Director of Public Advice Centre (PAC) in ministry of Justice, Tola Akinsanya gave the assurance during the agency’s courtesy visit to Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Kabiru Shotobi.
According to her, the agency would provide victims of land grabbing, child abuse, employers’ exploitation and others free legal advice.
Akinsanya urged residents of Ikorodu to shun all form of social vices and seek free legal advice on issues bordering on land grabbing, child abuse, and employers’ exploitation among others.
Akinsanya stressed that the one-day sensitization visit to Ikorodu was part of measures to enlighten residents on how to seek obtain their rights from violators without engaging in violence.
The king in his response commended state government for developmental strides in Lagos State, saying PAC is another good initiative of the government to assist downtrodden get justice.
Shotobi equally advised the residents to always approach the centre for alternative dispute resolution as against embarking on violence on issues affecting them.
“This programme today is aimed at creating awareness on how Ikorodu citizens can get free access to justice. As the closest to the grassroots, we have been enlightened on activities of PAC which we are going to transmit to the people.
“Not all the cases here in Ikorodu need to get to court; with PAC, we can settle so many disputes amicably and peacefully. All the Chiefs and Royal fathers are here to convey the agency’s message to the people,” he said.
Dignitaries present at the occasion include former Lagos State Commissioner for Information, Ayodele Elesho, former Commissioner for Agriculture, Kaoli Olusanya, Publisher, Oriwu Sun Newspaper, Monsur Olowosago, Iyaloja-General of Ikorodu division, Taofikat Allison, Chiefs, royal fathers in the division, among others.
