Ikorodu United has confirmed official re-signing of former handler, Maurice Cooreman for a two-year contract.
The Belgian was on Tuesday offered a two-year contract to tinker the side’s campaign in Nigerian second tier league, Nigeria National League (NNL).
The experienced tactician brought the Oga Boys to the Nigerian top-flight before he linked up with Akwa United for the immediate past top-flight.
An official of the Lagos-based side, Tunde Ayoola said Cooreman has come back to his former side with a mandate to bring back the Ikorodu outfit to the topflight league.
“The rumour of Coach Maurice Cooreman’s return to Ikorodu United has been on for some weeks. The coach has equally been around talking with the management as well as inspecting facilities and other tools to work with including the players.
“However, yesterday, Tuesday he was confirmed as substantive coach for a period of two years. He will take charge of the side campaign in the upcoming Nigeria National League (NNL).
“Of course, the normal mandate is simply to get the team back to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
“I believe the task will not be too daunting as he masterminded our promotion to the premier league,” said Ayoola said.
Ikorodu United resumed for the new league season on Tuesday, January 03 but it is expected that the entire players would come in at the weekend for the commencement of full scale training.
