
Inetimi Alfred Odon, popularly known as Timaya has joined the lists of young Nigerian stars signed as Globacom brand ambassadors.
Globacom in a statement made available to Authentic Platform News said the deal was informed by Timaya’s strides in the showbiz industry.
According to Globacom, his ‘role model’ position to the people of the Niger-Delta area necessitated the signing of the contract a week ago.
The bearded singer who is also called the Egberi Papa 1 of Bayelsa now becomes the latest Glo ambassador, joining the likes of Basketmouth, Bovi Ugboma, Reekado Banks, Korede Bello, Hadizah Blell (Di’ja), Patience Ozokwor, popularly called Mama G, Omawumi, Ego, Yvonne Nelson, Nadia Buhari and MI. Others are Flavour, Ime Bishop, Sani Danja, Funke Akindele, Odunlade Adekola, Bimbo Oloyede, Jaykolo (Dominic Elujaifor)and Sessime of Benin Republic.
Timaya whose genre of music includes raga, hip-hop, dancehall and afro beat, has released smash hits such as True Story, Gift and Grace, De Rebirth, LLNP and Upgrade. His journey into music started back in the year 2005 when he released “Dem Mama”, a track in his first album, True Story released in 2006.
Timaya is the proponent of ‘Dem Mama Soldiers’ and has won several awards including four Headies Awards and one Nigerian Music Award.
He is also a Peace Ambassador, an appointment he got in 2011 from the Inter-religious and International Federation for World Peace (IIFWP).
He achieved this feat because of his exemplary exploits, the organization explained.
The co-founder of the organization, Dr. Hak Ja Haan Moon, explained that Timaya is “one of those individuals whose lives exemplify the ideal of living for the sake of others, and who dedicate themselves to practices which promote the founding ideals of the IIFWP.”
