Flamingoes coach, Bala Nkiyu has heaped plaudits on her girls despite their failure to record a win in their second fixture at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup against England on Tuesday.
Nkiyu’s girls played out a barren draw against the young Lioness and now walk a tight rope in the competition after losing their first game 1-0 against England.
But the gaffer insisted that her charges will not only beat Korea DPR in their next game but go all the way in the competition.
“It was a tough match played in the right spirit. I know how much the players gave out there. We performed well, but in football dominating the game and winning individual accolades don’t count,” Nkiyu said in his post match press conference.
“What matters is to score and win. I think we did well in attack. We played a defensive game against Brazil and we lost because we made a few mistakes that we’ve sorted out now.
“We were more adventurous today but there are still a few things we need to Iron out before we take on Korea DPR.
“The players don’t have any experience of these competitions but they are going to fight hard to try to win it. We can still go through and I think we deserve it.”
