Roger Federer has risen four places to his highest Emirates Association of Tennis Professional (ATP) Ranking since 24 October 2016, when he was 7th as a result of capturing his 25th ATP World Tour Masters 1000 title at the BNP Paribas Open yesterday.
The 35-year-old Swiss now stands at World. No. 6 after a 6-4, 7-5 victory over compatriot Stan Wawrinka marked his fifth in the Californian desert.
The five time Indian Wells winner’s victory followed his triumph at the Australian Open, where he defeated Rafael Nadal in January.
Pablo Carreno Busta has also moved up four places to a career-high No. 19, according to the ATP World.
The Spaniard breaks into the Top 20 for the first time having reached the Indian Wells semi-finals, his best run at an ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event.
The 25-year-old saved two match points to prevail past Pablo Cuevas in the quarter-finals, before being ousted by third seed, Wawrinka.
Cuevas has climbed four positions to No. 26 after another strong week at Indian Wells.
The Uruguayan clinched the Brasil Open title earlier this month, defeating Ramos Vinolas and then achieved his best ATP World Tour Masters 1000 showing at Indian Wells.
Andy Murray remains unchanged as world number one. He is followed by Novak Djokovic and Stan Wawrinka. Kei Nishikori is fourth, while Milos Raonic is fifth.
Rafael Nadal, Dominic Thiem, Marin Cilic and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga complete the first ten in the world.
