James Daniya, the Federal Commissioner who represents Kwara in the Federal Character Commission, has asked all levels of government to fund more Christian pilgrimages so that they might pray for the nation.

This was revealed to newsmen on Tuesday in Abuja by Daniya, who traveled to Israel and Jordan with the 8th group of Christian pilgrims.

According to him, apart from increasing the faith of believers, pilgrims commit themselves to praying for the nation.

He described pilgrimage as spiritually enriching, adding that it afforded the pilgrims the opportunity to visit various holy sites.

“It allows pilgrims to visit, see and pray at the Holy Sites where the Prophets of old passed through and the land where our Lord Jesus Christ lived, died and resurrected for the salvation of the world.

“I thank God that we have been able to see many Holy Sites in Israel and Jordan,” he added.

Daniya said prayer was the key to everything in life.

“I would love the pilgrimage to be improved for massive participation.

“It is the fervent prayers of the people that have kept the country together, what has been happening in Nigeria, if it happens elsewhere, they cannot survive it.

“Prayers work effectively, especially during pilgrimage, as we gather to pray for the peace and security of our nation,” the federal commissioner said.

He admonished the pilgrims to continue to demonstrate every sense of responsibility at all times, and prayed God to grant them the wisdom to put into practice the teachings of the Holy Bible.
