Ukrainian officials have revised the death toll in a pre-dawn rocket attack on Kharkiv this morning, saying three people were killed and 17 injured.
Forty rescuers dealt with the attack’s aftermath and eight people were rescued from the rubble, the local emergency service said.
Only yesterday, another attack in Kharkiv had killed 12 people. Officials initially said six people were killed, but the death toll has since been revised upwards.
“Last night was one of the most tragic of the entire war in the Kharkiv region,” local governor Oleh Synehubov wrote on the Telegram messaging app.
Kharkiv resident Tamara Kramarenko said the dormitory where she lived was hit by a missile yesterday.
“Bang, grey. Grey fog … we got three windows – nothing else left! The stairs started collapsing, people started helping each other,” she said.
Two people were also killed today in a rocket attack in Krasnohrad, in the wider Kharkiv region.
This takes the death toll to at least 17 in the Kharkiv region in the last 24 hours.
