Arsenal FC, reeling from the humiliation suffered in Sunday’s derby against Tottenham Hotspur have demonstrated some empathy with their supporters, many of whom are still moaning from the defeat.

In a Twitter message, the club said: We know it hurts. But we wanted to thank you for your support at #THFCvAFC

The tweet was a follow-up to the regret shown by the club after the match on Sunday: “It’s very difficult to take for the club, for all the players, the fans”

For the second day, Arsenal are still Number One trending topic on Twitter.

Arsene Wenger, manager of the club had said ahead of the match that the club was targeting the third place in the league. However, Arsenal fell 0-2 to the Spurs.

With the result, Arsenal’s chance of making the fourth place to qualify for the UEFA Champions League has become harder.

Also for the first time in 22 years, Tottenham will be finishing the league ahead of Arsenal.

This has enraged supporters worldwide.

It is not clear whether the Twitter sop provided by Arsenal will placate their supporters. One of the implacable Gunners, Piers Morgan has just demonstrated how deeply hurt they are in a response to a tweet, credited to the Dalai Lama. NAN
