Chelsea want to sign a new left-sided centre-back in January with Monaco defender Benoit Badiashile the leading candidate, according to The Athletic.
The report claims the Blues are talking to the Ligue 1 side about recruiting the France international, although there is no agreement between the two sides.
But it is claimed that Badiashile will join Stamford Bridge in the coming weeks for around £30m.
The 21-year-old reportedly heads a list of targets which include RB Leipzig and Croatia star Josko Gavrdiol, Eintracht Frankfurt centre-back Evan Ndicka and Piero Hincapie of Bayer Leverkusen.
