Rivers United suffered their second defeat in the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup going down to a 2-1 defeat against KCCA FC at the Philip Omondi Stadium, Kampala on Saturday, reports apnewsng.com.
The hosts got off to a perfect start with Derrick Nsimbambi firing past Rotimi Sunday in the 14th minute.
Rivers United struggled to cope with the pace of the game and were dealt a major blow when Rotimi was replaced by Abiodun Akande following an injury in the 24th minute.
Stanley Eguma’s men however dragged themselves back into the game courtesy of a well struck volley by Bolaji Sakin on 32nd minutes.
The forward received a pass from Frederick Obomate and shot past Benjamin Ochan.
Nsimbambi netted the winner and his second of the game 20 minutes from time.
Rivers United next host the Ugandans at home and must win the game to keep their hopes of making it to the last eight alive.
