Buhari seeks Senate approval on Two New Justices Of Supreme Court

President Muhammadu Buhari has sought the confirmation of the Senate to appoint Paul Jauro from Taraba State, North East and Sidi Bage from Nasarawa State, North Central, as two new justices of the Supreme Court.

According to the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, the approval request was contained in a letter he read during the Tuesday’s Senate plenary session.

He said the letter explained that the nomination is in line with Section 231(2) of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Justice Bage, who was born on June 22, 1956, became Federal High Court Judge in 1992 before his appointment as Justice of the Court of Appeal in 2000.

Born in 1954, Jauro became a judge of the High Court in 1998 and was in 2008, appointed Justice of the Court of Appeal.

The two Judges had been recommended for appointment as Justices of the Supreme Court by the National Judicial Council, NJC.
