Bafana Bafana of South Africa head coach, Stuart Baxter is confident his team can secure a win against perennial rivals Nigeria in Saturday’s 2019 Africa Cup Nations qualifier at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, reports apnewsng.com.
The former African champions are yet to record a win against the Super Eagles in a competitive game.
But Baxter who was in charge when Bafana Bafana beat Nigeria 2-1 in a friendly game in 2004 in Johannesburg is confident they can turn the table against their hosts this time around.
“Baxter is fired up for this encounter, he believes the Eagles are there for the taking,” disclosed spokesman for the South Africa Football Association (SAFA), Dominic Chimhavi.
The Super Eagles are expected to depart Abuja for Uyo on Monday to begin preparations for the game.
The team has failed to qualify for the last two AFCON finals in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon.
