APC Wins Rives South East Senatorial Seat in Election Re-run

The All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate in Rivers South East District, Senator Magnus Abe, has defeated the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Olaka Wogu.

Abe, garnered 125,938 votes to defeat his PDP main challenger, who polled 25,394 votes.

The Returning Officer, Professor Gideon Onukwuisi, announced the result at the collation centre in Bori, Khana local government area (LGA), said out of the 154,703 votes cast, 152,706 votes were valid, while 2,627 votes were invalid.

Senator Abe, who voiced happiness over the outcome of the poll, thanked party supporters.

Abe, who dedicated his success to God, promised to give a better representation.

Meanwhile, the official results of Saturday’s legislative re-run election are still being expected.

However, the results released yesterday from various local government collation centres of the Independent National  Electoral Commission (INEC) indicated that the PDP and the All Progressives Congress (APC) are in a neck and neck victory.

In Rivers East Senatorial District, the PDP is leading in 6 out of its 8 local government areas (LGAs).

Some of the LGAs are Obio Akpor, Ogu/Bolo, Okrika, Omuma, Etche and Obio/Akpor, while the results of Emouha and Ikwerre were still being awaited.

In the House of Representatives results, the PDP is set to win in Omuma, Ogu/Bolo, while the APC prepared to clinch Tia/Eleme/Oyigbo federal constituency.

In the State House of Assembly polls, the results released so far indicated that the PDP was set to win the Bonny State constituency, while the APC looked good to take over the Khana constituency.
