Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says he is hopeful Brazilian playmaker Philippe Coutinho will be available for Sunday’s vital Premier League match at home to Southampton.

But Klopp joked that the 24-year-old is currently moving around like the club’s goalkeeping coach.
Coutinho limped off early on during Monday’s 1-0 win at Watford but was able to return to light training on Thursday.

And Klopp reported on Friday morning: “Phil was back running yesterday … We can’t be 100 per cent sure, but in this moment it looks positive.”

Sunday’s game has huge significance for the third- placed Reds as they look to nail down their hold on a top-four spot.

Klopp said: “Our plan for Sunday is to use Anfield.

“For some, it’s a nervy situation, but we need to be brave, enjoy the game, and use the crowd.

“I understand absolutely that people are getting nervous but Anfield is always more than good. What we’re going for is for all of us.

“There is positive pressure, we can go for something.”

Emre Can was the hero of the win at Watford, producing a superb overhead kick to score the only goal of the game, and Klopp says a new contract is being discussed for the German.

“It’s no secret how much I like Emre,” said the Reds boss. “And he likes the club.

“We’re in talks, there is no pressure, all is good. Liverpool are in talks with Emre Can about a new
Contract.

“I am quite positive. Keeping good players makes sense and Emre is a good player.

“He’s able to train without issues now and that helps the situation. The biggest improvement has been with his bicycle kicks!”
