Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN has called for the collaboration of African Development Bank (AfDB) to fasts-track all round development in the state
Speaking in Akure when the President of the group, Dr Akinwumi Adesina paid him a courtesy visit, the governor stated that the agrarian potentials of Ondo State which needed adequate support of the bank put the state in high pedestal to be on the front burner of high quality cocoa, palm oil and cassava production.
He stated that hardly would be any crop grown in any part of Nigeria that could not be sufficiently grown in the Sunshine State.
He said that the AFDB should make its presence felt in Ondo State in view of the fact that job creation through entrepreneurship in Agriculture is the number one on the five Cardinal Programmes of his administration.
Adesina, after congratulating Akeredolu on his inauguration as the 6th democratically elected governor of Ondo State expressed belief that the agricultural values of the state can jump start its economy, while expressing optimism that Ondo State will witness rapid development under the watch of the new governor.
The entourage of the AFDP President include the Nigerian Country Director of the Bank Mr Ebriam Faal, who led other officials of the bank in Nigeria ; Chairman House Committee on Agriculture; top officials of the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA); members of the Young Agriculture Entrepreneurs; some Agropreneurs and some indigenes of Ijebu-Igbo , the county home of the AFDB President.
Meanwhile, the Federal University of Technology Akure at its 28th Convocation Ceremony conferred an honourary Doctorate degree on Adesina who was the former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development
