The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has reacted to the report that the Senate Committee on Communications endorsed the proposed data tariff increase.

The commission said it was only commended by the the committee deputy Chairman, senator Solomon Olamilekan for suspending the directive.

The NCC in a rejoinder signed by its Director of Public Affairs Tony Ojobo on Wednesday said Senator Solomon Olamilekan, who led a Senate committee on a visit to the commission Tuesday only commended NCC for suspending the proposed data price floor.

He said “The Deputy Chairman of the Committee, Senator Solomon Olamilekan who led the team did not say or give any endorsement of the so called data tariff hike.

“He simply commended the activities of the Commission for responding to the pains of Nigerian consumers, by suspending the proposed tariff hike.”

Also,  Senator Olamilekan also denied giving the endorsement in a statement by his media aide, Kayode Odunaro.
